Description

The building at 41, 42, 44, and 45 West Street comprises four houses built as a single block. The construction dates to the 17th and early 18th centuries, with subsequent alterations. Number 45 is timber-framed and covered in brick, while the remaining houses are of red brick construction. All have steeply pitched roofs covered with old red tiles. The building forms an L-shaped block facing south and east, with five gabled dormer windows on the south side and four on the east side. The windows are flush-casement types. Number 45, located at the western end of the south range, features a two-cell plan with a lobby entry, an internal chimney stack, and axial floor beams added for an inserted floor. The building is included on the list for its group value.
