Description

Elm Tree Farmhouse is a house dating from the 16th century, with the southern bay of the crosswing built in the early 17th century and the northwest wing added in the later 17th century. It has a timber frame, roughcast exterior, and steep old red tile roofs. The house is designed in a T-plan and faces south, with the entrance now located on the west side of the two-storey west crosswing. There is also a two-storey later wing with a staircase and a second entrance, which is attached at the northwest corner of the crosswing.

The west front features two casement windows on each floor and a central entrance. There is one window on the upper floor of the south gable of the northwest wing, which is positioned at right angles to the front. A gabled timber porch leads to the door on the left, with a window on the right. The windows include flush three-light and two-light casement windows. The west face of the northwest wing has two casement windows on the first floor and a flush box sash window on the ground floor, which has eight over eight panes.

Inside, the farmhouse showcases exposed timbers, jowled posts, clasped-purlin roofs, axial beams, and curved braces. The doors are two-panel with HL hinges. The northwest wing is fully framed and features an external chimney on the north gable.
