Description

Garden Cottage is a house dating from the mid to late 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. The structure is timber-framed and incorporates brick casing and rendered sections, with a tiled roof. It has a three-bay lobby entrance. The house is two storeys high and features a central entrance within a 19th-century gabled porch, which has a hood mould over a chamfered pointed arch. Ground floor oriel bay windows are of 20th-century origin. The first floor has two three-light casement windows. A cross-axial ridge stack, rebuilt in the 19th century, is located to the left of the centre. There is a 19th-century external stack at the left end, and an oculus within a bargeboarded gable at the right end. Scattered casements are present at the rear of the building. One-storey rear extensions, dating to the 19th and 20th centuries, are not considered to be of particular significance. The interior has not been inspected.
