Description

This is a house dating to the late 16th century, with alterations made in the early 17th century and extensions and alterations in the 19th century. The house is constructed with an exposed timber frame and brick additions, and has a tiled roof. It originally comprised two bays and was part of a larger building. The house has two storeys. A plank and muntin door, with strap hinges, is located to the right of the centre. There are 17th-century 2- and 3-light casement windows with leaded panes. The timber frame has close studding. The house is boldly jettied, and the first floor is supported by brackets to the right, featuring an original timber diamond mullion and wide sill. To the left is a small oriel window on brackets. There is a plinth at ground level. The roof is steeply pitched, and there is a 19th-century ridge stack to the right. The right return side has a brick ground floor and a first-floor oriel on brackets, with exposed queen posts to the collar clasping purlins. There is a catslide roof over a rear outshut. A 19th-century wing in stock brick is located to the rear left, potentially built on the site of an original hall. The main stack, situated at the junction of the early block and the 19th-century wing, has been rebuilt with tall, diagonally laid red brick shafts and oversailing caps. The interior has not been inspected.
