Description
Crossways Cottage is a house dating from the early 18th century. It features a whitewashed brick ground floor and a roughcast, timber-framed first floor, topped with a tiled roof. The building has a three-bay lobby entry and stands two storeys high with a two-window front. The central entrance is flanked by brick piers supporting a hipped tiled hood on brackets. The cottage has 20th-century casement windows, and the central ridge stack was rebuilt in the 19th century. The left gable end is weatherboarded, and it has plain bargeboards. There is a small gabled brick addition on the right gable end. At the rear, two first-floor six-pane timber casements are located beside a weatherboarded lean-to addition. Inside, the ground floor features a stop-chamfered binding beam and a queen post roof with clasped purlins.
