Description

The Corner Cottage is a house dating from the late 16th to early 17th century, with extensions added in the early 18th century. The original structure is timber framed, and was extended and partially cased in brick. Some areas are rendered, and feature tile hanging. The roof is tiled. Originally two bays, the house is now one storey with an attic. The main entrance is located to the right of the centre. Windows are 20th-century leaded light casements. Exposed timber framing is visible. A plinth runs along the base of the building. A 19th-century stack is attached to the front, to the right of the entrance. Brick casing exists on the ground floor returns and the rear of the building. The right-hand return is rendered and tilehung, with a small bay window addition. Exposed framing is present on the rear and on the left return, as well as where the roof abuts the 18th-century rear parlour wing, which projects to the left. This wing is two storeys high, with 2 and 3-light 20th-century casements featuring segmental heads. A plat band and moulded eaves soffit are also present. The roof is hipped. A large external stack with offsets is situated on the left return. The interior has not been inspected.
