Description
Payne's Hall is a house dating from the early 17th century, with extensions and alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. It features a timber frame that is rendered, and has a tiled roof. The building consists of three bays with a lobby entry and two rear wings, and it stands two storeys high. The central entrance is located in a 19th-century gabled porch that has an arched outer entrance, kneelers, and a partially glazed door. There is a plinth and two-light small pane flush frame casements. A tall, large axial ridge stack is positioned at the centre, featuring four diagonally set shafts, some of which have been rendered and rebuilt. At the rear, there are two early gabled wings with slightly lower ridges, with the central wing likely serving as a stair wing, and an entrance located to the right. Additionally, there is a small lean-to at the rear of the left bay, and the right end has a later lean-to outshut with a stock brick end wall. The interior has not been inspected.
