Description

The stable block and kitchen garden wall located to the east of Tyttenhanger House is a Grade II listed structure. Originally built as stables in the 17th century, it has been partly rebuilt and altered, with extensions added in the 18th and 19th centuries. The building is constructed of red brick with tiled roofs. The original section features English bond brickwork, a continuous plat band, and various openings, some of which have segmental heads. The roof is hipped to the left.

To the left, there is a 19th-century two-storey square block with a steeply pitched pyramidal roof, which includes cast iron glazing bar casements and rubbed brick heads. On the right, an 18th-century wing projects forward and features timber mullion and transom windows with flat arched heads, along with a plinth and a hipped roof. A ridge stack is also present. Further to the right, a lower 19th-century range of stabling forms three sides of a courtyard and has scattered openings and a hipped roof.

A ramped wall with two octagonal cast iron piers flanks the entrance at the front. Attached to the rear of the 17th-century range is an 18th-century kitchen garden wall, which has three long sides and returns to the right, standing 2 to 3 meters in height. This structure is included for its group value.
