Description

The Chapel at International University is a private chapel built in 1900 by E.D. Webb for the Royal Masonic Institute for Boys. It features knapped flint with stone dressings and has a tiled roof, designed in the Perpendicular Gothic style. The chapel consists of a 4-bay nave and a 1-bay chancel, with vestries on the north and south sides and an organ bay to the north.

At the west end, there are double doors beneath a 4-centred arched head, with a 3-light leaded window above it and an oculus in the coped gable. An octagonal turret is located at the southwest corner, adorned with stone quoins and featuring 3-light openings on all four faces. The chapel has an ashlar parapet with arms in quatrefoils on each side and a diagonal buttress on the northwest. The north and south sides have straight buttresses, small windows in the west bay, and larger 5-light traceried windows with 4-centred arched heads in the nave.

The eastern end is semi-octagonal, with three 3-light windows that have traceried 4-centred arched heads. The vestries also have 3-light windows under a gable with an ashlar parapet, and 2-light windows on the returns, along with diagonal buttresses. The organ bay to the north features straight buttresses. Inside, there is a west gallery and an arched braced roof, with an east window designed in 1901 by P.H. Newman.
