Laundry Cottage At Munden Home Farm About 40 Metres North West Of Munden House

Laundry Cottage at Munden Home Farm, located about 40 meters northwest of Munden House, is a house dating from the early to mid 17th century. It was cased and extended in the early to mid 18th century and underwent further extensions and alterations in the 19th century. The structure features a timber frame with red brick walls, which have been extended in stock brick, and has tiled roofs. It likely has a three-bay core with numerous additions. The cottage has small two-light casement windows with early leaded panes and a large 17th-century external end stack on the left side, which has offsets. There is an exposed post at the left end. On the right side, there is a gable at the front over a 19th-century addition, which includes two ground floor three-light casements with iron glazing bars and cambered heads, as well as a first-floor two-light window with decorative leaded panes. The gable features a cusped bargeboard. The right return has two ground floor windows and a bargeboarded gable, while the rear displays dentilled brick eaves. Attached to the rear left is a two-storey 18th-century red brick block with an end stack at the rear. To the rear right, a low one-bay timber-framed gabled wing extends, providing an entrance to the farmyard. Inside, the cottage has jowled posts supporting cambered tie beams, a queen post roof, and a ground floor stop-chamfered binding beam.
