Description
Almin and Manor Farm Cottage is a house, now divided into two homes, dating from the 17th century and altered in the 18th century. The building features a timber frame that is roughcast, with a weatherboarded apron. The ground floor has a red brick 18th-century replacement along the front wall that includes a projecting oven. The roofs are steep and covered with old red tiles.
The house is two storeys high with a three-cell plan, facing west, and has a one-and-a-half storey northern extension. A tall red brick central chimney, with an added flue at the front, is a prominent feature. The northern part, known as Almin, has a two-light wooden casement window on each floor, a panelled door, and a similar window in the northern extension. Above the door is a sun firemark numbered 103631. Inside, there are unjowled posts, an exposed frame, and a chamfered axial beam with an ogee stop at the northern end only, along with side-purlin roofs for both the house and the northern extension.
The southern part, known as Manor Farm Cottage, has painted brickwork on the ground floor, with two lower windows and a lean-to porch that is roughcast and tiled. This part was formerly used as a shop, with a barn located in the southern section.
