Description

Pettit's is a house dating from the 17th century, with parts cased in the early 18th century and a refronting from the mid-19th century. It features a timber frame and red brick construction, which is largely covered in stucco, topped by a steeply pitched tiled roof. The building has three bays and is two storeys high with attics.

The mid-19th century facade includes a centrally located projecting entrance porch, which has a recessed six-panel door with a rectangular fanlight above it. There are small architraved lights on the sides of the porch, with bracketed sills and a cornice above the flat head. The windows are recessed glazing bar sashes with architraves and bracketed sills. The facade also has a plinth, a plat band, a cornice at the blocking course, and pilaster strips at the ends.

There are two box dormers over the outer bays and an internal stack at the right end. The right gable end is made of 18th century red brick with burnt headers and features diapering along the gable line, along with blocked segmental-headed openings and one small light. The left gable end is a plastered timber frame with exposed plates and purlins, 19th century moulded bargeboards, two-light casements, and a conservatory lean-to. At the rear, there is brick casing on the far right only, with some pargetting on the first floor. A 19th century lean-to outshut made of whitewashed brick and a slate roof includes an entrance and a stack. The interior has not been inspected.
