Description

The Inn on the Green is a public house dating from the early 18th century, with additions and alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of red brick featuring burnt headers and has a tiled roof. The building has three bays and stands two storeys high with an attic.

On the ground floor, there is a central entrance with fielded panelled double doors set within a projecting 20th-century brick porch that has a cornice. To the left of the entrance is a flush frame cross casement window with small panes and a segmental head. To the right, there is a shallow canted bay window with small pane casements. The first floor features two light flush frame small pane casements on the outer sides, with a central blind opening. The building has a plinth and a plat band, along with two box dormers over the outer bays. The gable end parapets are supported by brick kneelers, and there are internal end stacks.

To the left of the main building, there is a single-storey red brick wing with a projecting bay window and a blocked entrance. At the rear, there is a catslide roof over a continuous lean-to outshut addition, which includes a three-light small pane casement window in a rendered wall. Additionally, a small tile-hung gabled wing projects to the rear. The interior has not been inspected. The Inn on the Green was formerly known as The Tilbury and The Three Horseshoes.
