Description

PISHIOBURY DRIVE 1. 5253 (East End) Barn at E end of lower courtyard, Pishiobury Park TL 480 133:6/34 6.6.52 II GV 2. C18 using older materials. Timber frame weatherboarded under gabled steep old red tile roof. 5 bay unaisled barn with gabled central porch of same height and small door opposite. Low brick wall supporting timber cill plate. N end rebuilt in brick: S and E walls half rebuilt in Flemish bond red brick on top of cill plates. Posts are unjowled and are re-used floor beams of large section with deep chamfers. Other timbers are also re-used house timbers presumably from parts of the late C16 house. Curved braces only to tie beams flanking central bay. Modern porch window. Interior fitted as hall/games room. Not an original C16 building as suggested by RCHM (1911) 203-4, but probably made of timbers of that period associated with the site.
