Description

PISHIOBURY DRIVE 1. 5253 (East End) Ha-ha around Mansion at Pishiobury Park TL 480 155:6/50 II GV 2. Later C18 probably 1782-3 by Lancelot (Capability) Brown (1716-83). Red brick wall of good quality with regular coursing, set below ground level as a vertical revetment on the inner or house side of a ditch to prevent the ingress of cattle while being invisible in views out. 12 courses of brickwork with brick on edge coping flush with lawn. Best preserved section NW of mansion follows an irregular serpentine line from drive to lake. Characteristic landscape garden feature.
