Description
The West Barn at Priory Farm House, located on the roadside in Widford village, is an early 19th-century barn that was extended around 1900. It features uncoursed, unknapped flints arranged in lifts, with plum brick pilastered piers. On the east side, there is a shorter parallel timber-framed weatherboarded range, and the barn has been reroofed in corrugated iron at a low pitch. This tall, single-storey barn has 11 bays that face Hunsdon Road and extends approximately 40 metres along the roadside. The building is notable for its unusual construction for the period and contributes visual interest to the village centre, playing an essential role in maintaining the enclosure in this part of the Conservation Area. It is included for its group value.
