Description

Swans Barn is a 17th-century barn, later converted into a house around 1976. It is timber-framed and clad in dark weatherboarding, with a red brick sill and a steep roof covered in old red tiles. Originally a tall barn, it is now a house of one and a half storeys. The east-facing side, fronting the road, has a small recessed entrance and a small rooflight. A weatherboarded gabled porch, of an older style, is located in the middle of the west side, flanked by windows overlooking an enclosed yard. The barn adjoins the former Swan Public House to the north and is an important feature of its setting. The building retains its picturesque character despite its conversion. It forms part of a varied group of buildings and is included for group value within the local Conservation Area.
