House, now 2 houses. C17, extended in C18 (date '1712 WH' on W end), 3 cottages in C19, now 2 houses. An L-shaped, 2 storeys timberframed plastered house with steep old red tile roof, with hip and gable at W end. Originally a rectangular house (No 2) with W end to street facing N. Weatherboarded apron on N and plank door and small paned window linked under a dripboard. 2 C19 small flushbox sash windows with vertical margin lights to upper floor and one to right cut into weatherboarded apron. Ground floor on W faced in C19 red brick. 2 recessed margin light sashes to Ground floor and 2 similar flush box sash windows above, flanking a smoothed plaster date panel. No 1 on S is an C18 narrower 2 storeys extension along the street formerly 2 similar cottages with door and 1 window to each floor. Ground floor faced in brick later than No 2 (straight joint). Lefthand plank door retained and margin light sash window inserted in the other. Central red brick chimney. S gable faced in brickwork at 2 periods. An historic C17 3-unit central chimney house extended in C18 and sub-divided. Part of the varied architectural group around The Bell Inn.
