Description
Wanns Cottage is a house that dates from the 18th century or earlier, with a brick casing added in the early 19th century. The wing of the house was extended in the 1930s. The rear wing is timber-framed and plastered. The front block is faced in grey brick and colourwashed, and it has steep roofs that are now slated. The house has a double-pile plan and is two storeys tall under a single pitched roof, facing west. It features a long narrow plastered rear wing, with the lower part colonnaded next to the house. There are projecting gable chimneys on the front range. The front has two upper windows, with a central window also on the ground floor. To the left, there is a lean-to tiled open timber porch leading to a four-panel half-glazed door. The front also has two-light timber mullioned windows, while the rear wing has three-light flush casements. This is an interesting historic village house and is part of the group at the top of the High Street in the Conservation Area.
