Description

A block of two houses, likely dating from the 17th century and extended forward in the early 19th century as shown on a Tithe Map of 1839. The houses are timber-framed and plastered. They consist of two storeys with a steeply pitched tiled roof to the rear of a wider, flatter pitched slate roof. A large grey brick chimney sits on the ridge. The eaves are trimmed, with an ogee gutter. Each house has one window on each floor. Doors are positioned away from back-to-back fireplaces. The windows are flush box sashes with 6/6 panes. Later, half-glazed doors were fitted. A modern, single-storey plastered extension is present on the north end. The houses represent an older village property extended and divided into two dwellings in the early 19th century and contribute to a picturesque group within the Conservation Area.
