Description
This is a barn located about 100 meters south-west of Higher Huntham Farmhouse, dating from the 17th century. The north gable end wall was rebuilt in 1883, and the south end was altered around 1930. The barn is constructed of squared and coursed blue lias stone, with some areas rendered, and the south end is weatherboarded. It features a steeply pitched half-hipped roof made of corrugated iron. The barn has four bays, but the interior was obscured by hay during the survey in December 1984. The gable ends are concealed by farm building additions that are not of special interest. The double door jambs are formed from the lower section of jointed cruck. Although the interior is partially hidden by contents, it is believed to contain three pairs of arch-braced trusses with wind bracing. The farm underwent repairs and enlargements by William Barrett of Moredon in 1883, a date that is noted on another building not included in this listing.
