Description
Thatchers and the cottage attached at the rear is a farmhouse that has been converted into a dwelling. It dates from the 17th century and was refenestrated in the late 18th to early 19th century. The building is constructed of blue lias and red sandstone random rubble, with a rendered right return. It features a thatched roof and has brick stacks at the gable ends, possibly with a lateral stack at the rear.
The layout consists of three cells and a cross passage. The structure is one and a half storeys tall and has four bays. The first floor has three-light leaded iron casements, while the ground floor includes three and four-light windows on the left and a four-light window on the right, all beneath a deep, slate-roofed pentice porch supported by rubble walls. The porch has a doorway with a chamfered cambered head and a plank door. There is also a large raking buttress on the end bay to the right. The interior has not been seen but may contain interesting features. Additionally, there is a two-bay brick cottage attached at the rear by a section of wall. This property was formerly known as Clarke's Farm.
