Description
Upper Lodge is a lodge to Moredon, built around 1860. It features snecked squared and coursed local grey sandstone, with Ham stone quoins and lintels, and decorative patterned tiles. The building has overhanging eaves, decorative pierced bargeboards, and a tall central brick stack with moulded pots in a Tudor style. It is a one and a half storey block with a single storey cross wing to the south and a single storey porch to the north, designed in a picturesque Tudor style.
The west front has three bays, with a porch on the left that includes a studded plank door. In the center gable end, there is a 2-light casement, and below it, a 5-light hipped bay window. To the right, there is a gabled window that rises through the eaves of the single storey cross wing, and on the right return, there is a 2-light casement with a plain diamond panel in the gable end. Overall, it is a pretty composition that remains unusually complete.
