Description

The Vicarage is a dwelling, originally known as Moorland Cottage, dating from the early 18th century and later altered. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, with a blue lias rubble plinth and a slobbered rubble return on the right and in the outshot. The building features a slate roof with coped verges and brick stacks at the gable ends and center. The layout is not fully clear without an internal inspection, but it consists of four bays and is entered from the gable ends through an outshot, with a single-storey addition on the left side.

The structure is two storeys high and has four bays. It includes Ham stone voussoirs with keystones and sills, and a mix of 9, 12, and 16-pane sash windows, with two late 20th-century pivoted sashes inserted in the second bay from the left. The entrance is on the left return and features a studded plank door. On the first floor, there are two 16-pane sashes with small panes and a moulded architrave, along with a hipped slate-roofed verandah supported by waney timber posts. The right return has a 16-pane sash window on the first floor and a 20th-century window inserted in a blocked doorway opening on the ground floor. There is also a single-storey, one-bay addition with a plank door, accessed by a flight of steps. It is unclear whether the entrance to this dwelling was ever located on the main facade.
