Description
Church Cottages is a pair of semi-detached houses that were enlarged from a single house. They date from the late 18th century to early 19th century, with further enlargements made in the 20th century. The cottages are built from blue lias random rubble with rendered returns and have slate roofs. The right side features a catslide roof, and both gable ends have coped verges with brick stacks. The plan consists of a double pile with an addition on the right side. The cottages are two storeys high and have three bays, featuring 12-pane sash windows and a central six-panel door. There is a rustic wooden gabled porch, and the right addition is angled, with a 20th-century many-paned two-light casement window on the first floor to the left. The entrance has a rustic wooden porch, and the roof extends down to a single storey, which is lit on the right return. Church Cottages are part of a notable group of buildings surrounding the churchyard of St Peter and St Paul.
