Water tower. 1899 for New River Company. A tall cylindrical tower of rivetted iron plates with a steep conical iron roof topped by a large scrolled finial supporting a fish as wind-vane. Elaborate circular yellow brick building as the base. 2 blue brick chamfered offsets to plinth and similar deep corbelling to eavesband below a heavy stone moulded coping. Projecting rectangular entrance feature on SE with pilastered round arched doorway with moulded stone imposts and hood mould. 3-panel double doors and radial fanlight. Chamfered stone circular windows with cast iron radial frames. A landmark in this part of the heath.
