Description
Rose Cottage is a house built in 1829 for Matthew Campbell, who was a purveyor to the East India College. The house is constructed of stucco with yellow stock brick outbuildings on the right and features slate roofs. It has a glass-roofed verandah along the left side. The design includes a double-pile, double-fronted plan, making it a two-storey building with a gabled front range facing the road and a hipped rear wing. The front is symmetrical with three windows and a central four-panel door, and the windows are sash style with three over six panes. This picturesque early 19th-century stucco house is set back from the road and forms a group with its railings and garden gate.
