Description
The Rebecca Poor Memorial is located in St Mary's Churchyard in Hertingfordbury and dates from 1829. This memorial is made of Portland stone and features a truncated obelisk that rests on a two-stage pedestal, which is set on a slab covering a vault. The pedestal is panelled and includes inscriptions, while the upper stage has recessed panels that are adorned with relief carvings of urns and swags. The obelisk has a roll and scotia moulded base and is inscribed with the names of Rebecca Poor, who died in 1829, along with her husband Jesse Poor, who died in 1841, and their daughter Elizabeth Poor. At the top of the monument, there is an urn with a flame finial. The memorial stands approximately 20 meters southeast of the south porch of the church.
