Description

The sedilia is a 14th-century feature that was removed from St Mary's Church during restoration and rebuilding in 1891. It is designed in the Decorated Gothic style and consists of a triple stall with stone seats and three recessed bays, which are divided by attached colonnettes. At the time of inspection, the structure was noted to be badly eroded. The canted backs of the seats are panelled with trefoil arches in blind tracery, and there is a roll moulded cornice. The sedilia has been rebuilt approximately 20 meters south of the south porch, at the end of an avenue of trees.
