Description

Milestone located in the verge east of Ware Fire Station, dating from around 1810 to 1820. It was erected by the Cheshunt Turnpike Trust. The milestone is made of cast iron and features a semicircular top with splayed faces. It has raised lettering that reads 'Ware Parish' at the top, 'Wadesmill 2' on the left side, and 'London 21' on the right side. It appears to have been moved from its original position during road widening in the 1960s.
