Description
45 Baldock Street is a house that has been converted into offices. It dates back to the 16th century, with alterations made in the 18th and 19th centuries. The building is timber-framed and covered in stucco, topped with an old tiled roof that features two box casement dormers. A central red brick chimneystack, which has an oversailing course and three terracotta pots, is a later addition since the original structure showed no sign of a chimney.
The house has two storeys and attics, with a first floor that jetties out on wooden brackets. There are two flush set sash windows with glazing bars on this level. The ground floor includes two early 19th-century canted bay windows, which now have modern plate glass. The central doorway features a half-glazed door set back in the reveal.
Inside, there is an internal exposure of the timber framing, especially noticeable in the attics where a former two-bay crown-post roof structure was removed to create usable space.
