Description

This is a house, later used as offices, dating back to the 16th century, with alterations made in the 18th and 19th centuries. It is timber-framed and covered in stucco, featuring a moulded cornice extending along the top of the front, above an old tiled roof with two dormers that have hip roofs. A tall brick stack, with a projecting course at the top, is located on the left side. The house is two storeys high with an attic. The upper floor juts out over the ground floor, supported by corbels, and has rusticated stucco quoins at the ends. The front has two flush windows with three panes of glass each. The ground floor has two sets of windows with small panes of glass, flanked by pilasters, and a central recessed door with a half-glazed panel. A large brick extension from the 18th century covers two-thirds of the rear, with a timber-framed and plastered gable end and an old tiled roof. Inside, the house is now connected to number 45 and appears to have originated as a two-bay, two-storey structure with a crown post roof, originally unheated.
