Description
41 Baldock Street is a house that has been converted into shops with offices above. It dates back to the 16th century and has been altered in the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries. The building features a timber-framed structure with a colourwashed brick front and an old tiled roof. It has two storeys, with the first floor showcasing two flush set sash windows with exposed boxes and glazing bars. The ground floor was rebuilt in the 1980s, featuring a recessed modern six-panel hardwood door on the left and a multi-paned flush set triple-light modern sash window on the right. At the rear, there is a long outshoot.
Inside, the first floor of Nos 41 and 43 has been opened up as a single unit, accessible through the entrance of No. 41. The timber-framed structure is visible internally, including a lower section of the roof with studs, a wall-plate, smoke-blackened rafters, and part of an unglazed wooden mullioned window.
