Description

Noah's Ark is a house dating from the early 18th century, with an extension marked 'EC 1831' on the rainwater heads. It has a timber frame that is plastered, with the southern side partly covered in brick. There are brick extensions at the front and rear, featuring stucco labels above the windows. The house has steep roofs that are now slated and is two storeys high with a three-unit plan, facing south. It includes end chimneys, an external gable stack, and a former winding stair at the west end, along with an internal gable stack at the east where the gable is angled to the sidewalls. The south parlour wing, added in 1831, has two and a half storeys and contains the main entrance and a new staircase. There is also a contemporary small two-storeyed gabled wing at the rear. The older part of the house features a mix of casement windows and sash windows on the ground floor. The south wing has recessed sash windows with 6/6 panes and moulded stucco labels, while the southwest part of the old range has brick facing. The front door is adorned with reeded pilasters and shaped brackets supporting a flat panelled hood. Inside, the house has chamfered axial beams, cast iron basket grates, and a two-panel door.
