Description

Ramsey Manor is a house dating from the mid 18th century, with a 19th-century rear extension. It is constructed of local gault brick, and there is an internal timber-framed wall that may be from the same period. The roof is covered with plain tiles and features parapet gables and end stacks. The building is two storeys high with attics and has a symmetrical facade with five bays.

There are three hipped casement dormer windows and five first-floor flush-framed twelve-paned hung sash windows set in segmental brick arches. The ground floor has similar windows that are rebated and include original 18th-century raised and fielded panelled shutters. The entrance features a wooden doorcase with fluted Ionic capitals and a cornice with dentil enrichment, topped by a pediment. The front door is an 18th-century design with six raised and fielded panels.

Inside, there is a room to the south that has an 18th-century chimney piece, while the north room also features 18th-century panelling and a chimney piece. The staircase is an open string design, with a closed string at the attic level, and includes carved scroll brackets on the risers, turned newels, balusters, and a moulded handrail. The first-floor chimney piece is adorned with delft tiles. There is also a fire insurance plaque on the street facade.
