Description

66 Station Road is a 17th to 18th century timber-framed house that stands two stories high, featuring a steep old red tile gabled roof that runs parallel to the road. At the west, there is a later 18th century two-story rear wing that is weatherboarded and topped with a hipped old red tile roof. The east gable is partly weatherboarded and partly plastered over a brick plinth, while the west flank is entirely plastered. The house has a large red brick external gable chimney on the east side and a smaller external gable chimney on the west side. The symmetrical weatherboarded front has two windows on each floor, with 18th century flush box sashes that have moulded architraves and small drip boards above the lower windows. There are 19th century replacement sashes with three panes above and six panes below. The central plank door features a narrow architrave, a plain reveal, and a small drip board above. A sun fire mark, previously located above the door, is noted as being absent in photographs from 1973. This medium-sized house is part of a picturesque group on the south side of the road, which steps down the hill.
