Description
This is a 17th-century barn located at Pepsalend Farm, positioned to the north of the yard entrance. The barn features a timber frame set on a high red brick sill and is covered with dark weatherboarding and an old red tile roof. It has a tall structure with four bays and faces south, showcasing double doors. The design includes heavy jowled posts, mid-height rails with curved braces connecting to tie-beams, and inclined straight queen-posts in the gable-end trusses. Each roofslope contains two clasped purlins. In the other trusses, the upper purlin is clasped between a collar and the principal, while the lower purlin is positioned between the principal and a parallel member below, which curves down to connect with the top of the tie-beam at a right angle. The upper end of this lower purlin is jointed into the underside of the collar. Additionally, straight wind-braces are present at the gable ends.
