Description
This is a 17th-century barn located to the west-northwest of Lordship Farm's farmhouse. It features a timber frame set on a stuccoed brick sill, with dark weatherboarding and a steeply pitched roof that has been slated. The barn has five wide bays facing south, with double doors in the second bay from the east and a winnowing door on the north side of the same bay. The structure includes heavy jowled posts and unjowled mid-bay posts, with a mid-height rail that is jointed in-line. Above this rail are straight tension braces, and there are long straight braces connecting to the tie-beams. Each roofslope is supported by a single clasped-purlin carried on heavy inclined queen-posts, with a middle-post at the gable and additional long straight tension braces. This barn is included for its group value with the surrounding buildings.
