Description
This is a 17th-century barn located 50 meters southeast of Mabbs Farmhouse. It features a timber frame on a brick sill, with remnants of dark weatherboarding. The barn has a steep roof and is four bays tall, facing west. It includes a gabled porch in the second bay from the south, with opposed double doors in the rear wall of that bay. The structure has stepped jowled posts and a mid-height rail that is staggered in height. Long straight braces support the tie-beams, and the roof is constructed with inclined queen-posts, diminished principals, and clasped purlins, along with added struts as collars. There is evidence of scorching from a fire on the southern end timbers.
