BOVINGDON LONGCROFT LANE TL 00 SW (North side) 6/33 Barn at Mabbs - Farmhouse (50m to SE of house)

GV II

Barn. C17. Timber frame on brick sill with remains of dark weatherboarding. Steep roof and much of frame stripped of cladding but complete. A 4-bays tall barn facing W with gabled porch in 2nd bay from S with opposed double doors in rear wall of that bay, stepped jowled posts. Mid-height rail staggered in height. Long straight braces to tie-beams. Inclined queen-post roof with diminished principals and clasped purlins. Added struts as collars. Scorching from fire on S end timbers.
