BOVINGDON LONGCROFT LANE TL 00 SW (North side) 6/32 Mabbs Farmhouse -

GV II

Farmhouse, now a private house. Mid C16 with early C17 NE rear wing and late C17 similar wing beside it on W, front cased in brick in C18/C19 century, renovated and rear part tilehung c.1975. Timber frame on brick sill, brick infilled and tilehung at rear but red brick front. Steep old red tile roofs and 2 internal chimneys. A long 1½ storeys house facing S with 3 windows, 3 dormers, tiled gabled porch on 2 posts. 2-light flush casement windows with small panes. Stable type door to kitchen at RH end of front. Timber lintels with segmental relieving arches. A 6-bay timber frame with jowled posts, straight braces, cambered tie beams, clasped purlin roof with straight wind braces: sockets for 3 light diamond mullioned glazed window in rear wall ground floor. Jowled posts and clasped purlin roof to 2-storeys NE rear wing. Butt purlin roof to adjoining rear wing. 2 2-panel moulded doors on 1st floor. Exposed chamfered axial and cross beams in room on E side of central chimney. Exposed beams and joists generally.
