Description

Yew Tree Farm is a farmhouse that has been converted into a private house. It dates from the 17th century, with a parallel rear extension added in the mid-19th century. The building features a timber frame that is covered in red brickwork, and the upper floor at the front is tile-hung with bands of scalloped tiles. The roof is steep and made of old red tiles, with bellcast front eaves.

The house is two stories high and has a two-cell layout with an internal chimney and a lobby entry plan, facing north with a lower rear extension. The front is asymmetrical, with two windows on each floor and small gables above the upper windows. The first-floor windows are 18th-century three-light flush casements with iron opening casements. The west end has been rebuilt in red brick.

At the southwest, there is a single-storey rear wing that is dark weatherboarded and tiled. A pump is located on the rear wall, and there is a well in the rear garden. Inside, the timber frame creates a large west room with an axial beam, a short chimney bay, and a narrow east room that has been enlarged by cutting back the old large chimney and altering the partition to the entrance lobby. The interior features 17th-century panelling with strapwork decoration, and part of a 17th-century staircase with turned balusters remains. The beams are chamfered and have stops.
