Description

The Garden House is a house dating from the 17th century for the west range and the early 19th century for the east range. It features a timber frame with roughcast on a rendered sill for the west range, while the east range has stucco on brickwork. Both ranges have old red tile roofs, with the west range having a steeper pitch. The house is set back from the road within a park boundary wall, with its front now facing east.

The building consists of two parallel ranges side-by-side. The older west range has a three-cell internal chimney plan, with the chimney located one-third from the south end. There are four-light leaded flush casement windows on each floor of the north gable. A large chimney is situated in the valley between the two ranges at the north end, which may have originally been a rear-wall chimney for the older range.

The east front features three windows on the first floor and two on the ground floor, along with a central door. The windows are mullioned leaded casement types with moulded labels, arranged as three-light, two-light, and three-light on the first floor, and four-light on each side of the door, with pointed heads above the transom. The entrance door is a five-panel design with a glazed and traceried top panel, topped by a Gothick rectangular fanlight, all within a stucco surround.
