Description
Nos. 2, 4, and 6 Freshwell Street is a terraced row of houses built around 1850. The houses feature red brick walls and stacks, topped with a peg-tiled roof. They are arranged in a rectangular plan and stand two storeys high.
The front southeast elevation has a six-window range, with Nos. 4 and 6 sharing a stack. The doors are located in the outer bays, while No. 2 is similar to No. 4 but has its own stack. The windows have deep reveals and are sashes with glazing bars, featuring three by four panes, with some old glass still present. The doors have overlights, with No. 6 having a 19th-century door with four flush beaded panels, while Nos. 2 and 4 have 20th-century doors with six panels each.
The rear northwest elevation is similar to the front, also displaying six windows and a three-door range. Some windows have been replaced with 20th-century casements. Each house on the ground floor retains one original two-light casement window with glazing bars, featuring two by two panes, along with an additional smaller fixed casement from the 20th century. On the first floor, Nos. 4 and 6 have a 19th-century two-light casement similar to the ground floor, while the rest are 20th-century replacements, consisting of single-light casements, with one at No. 2 being larger than the others. The end elevations are plain.
