Description
19 and 21 Bridge Street are a pair of houses from the 18th century. They are timber-framed and plastered, with some traces of ashlar lining, and feature a peg-tiled roof with a central 19th-century red brick chimney. The houses are arranged in a U shape with later additions and stand two stories tall.
On the east elevation, both houses have one window on the ground floor and one on the first floor, each consisting of triple sliding sashes with glazing bars arranged in 6x3 panes. Number 19 has a bead-moulded boarded door topped with a simple weather hood, while number 21 features a 20th-century board and battened door with an upper central light. A simple hinged boarded window shutter remains on the ground floor of number 19. A 'Royal' fire insurance plate is located centrally under the eaves.
On the west elevation, the first floor retains some weatherboarding and has one window for each house, with casements that have glazing bars; number 19 has 2x2 panes, and number 21 has 3x3 panes. Each house has a 20th-century extension on the ground floor; number 19 includes a conservatory with an adjacent 20th-century two-light casement window, while number 21 has an addition made of rendered brick featuring a central fully glazed door flanked by one single and one two-light casement window on either side.
