Description

Poplar Farm consists of a group of farm buildings located 30 metres east of the farmhouse, including two barns, a calf barn, a ducks house, and a chaff house. These intact farm buildings date from the 19th century and are constructed of red brick, featuring an ornate moulded brick louvre band throughout, segmental arches over the doors, and a moulded brick plaque inscribed with "W.M. TABRUM" and "W.M.T. 1871" on the large barn. The buildings showcase high-quality King Post roof construction, covered with grey slate.

At the rear, there is a large barn with a hipped roof and winnowing doors on the east and west sides. To the right of this barn is the calf barn and the gabled end ducks house, while to the left is the chaff house. The four forward ranges have hip-ended roofs and consist of eight bays each. The first range was originally a stable with a stallion pen at the rear, where harness hooks still remain on the walls. The adjoining yard has been converted into a roofed cattle yard, featuring a weatherboarded gable and tall double doors. The second range housed the granary, while the third and fourth ranges are used as cattle stalls and yard. The winnowing door of the large barn leads into the second yard. The second and fourth ranges have plain board doors, the first range has tall double doors, and the third range has single-storey double doors. Many original features are still present, including some brick floors.
