Description

Poplar Farmhouse is an early 19th century house. It is timber framed and has a rough cast rendered facade with a brick rear extension. The roof is covered in grey slate. The house is two storeys high, with a three-window arrangement on the first floor and a two-window arrangement on the ground floor, featuring small-paned sliding sash windows. An open-gabled porch fronts the property, and a four-panelled door with two lights is set within a moulded surround. Three symmetrically placed red brick chimney stacks are visible.

A red brick extension dating to circa 1871 is located at the rear and was part of the original farm group. This extension originally housed the dairy, and the cellar still contains an alcove for storing a beer barrel. Original 19th century doors and stairs remain. A brick wall extending south helps form a central yard, situated between the house and a range to the south, and the Eastern Main Range of farm buildings. The house was recorded as Poplars Farmhouse in 1824.
