Description
Manor Cottage is a 17th-century cottage located on Thaxted Road in Little Bardfield. The building features a 20th-century gabled and jettied left crossing. It is constructed with a timber frame and plastered exterior, topped with red plain tiled roofs that extend to the rear of the main right range and are hipped at the gable apex. There are two red brick chimney stacks, with one on the left featuring a 20th-century concertina shaft, and the other is square and off-center to the main range. The cottage is two storeys high and has a window arrangement of one window to the left and two to the right, consisting of leaded vari-light casements with labels above. Some of the windows are from the 17th century and include ironmongery. There is a 20th-century oriel window on the first floor to the left. The entrance features a 20th-century plank and muntin door with a segmental pointed head and carved spandrels surrounding it. Inside, there is through bracing in some of the internal walls and two brick floors.
