Description

The house at Wainsford Farmhouse dates from the 16th century or earlier, with alterations and additions in the 17th century and later. It is a timber-framed building with a 19th-century painted brick facade and plastered return walls. The roof is covered in red plain tiles. A central red brick chimney stack rises from the ridge, featuring attached diagonal shafts on a rectangular base with a moulded capping. A smaller square stack is on the right return. The gables are adorned with pierced bargeboards. The house has a central band, and two storeys with a two-window frontage of casement windows with glazing bars. An off-centre right entrance has a 20th-century plank and muntin door, a moulded surround, and a flat canopy supported by brackets. It is reputed to contain an early 16th-century doorway with a three-centred head and moulded ceiling beams.
