Description
Nos. 14, 16, and 16A on Stortford Road are a group of buildings dating from the 17th century. They are constructed with a timber frame and plastered exterior, topped with a high gabled peg tile roof over 16 and 16A, which features a lower ridge line and a hipped roof over the southeast corner. The front of 16 and 16A includes two 20th-century casement windows with small panes, a 20th-century bowed shop window, a fascia, a door, and an arched gated opening leading to an access passage. No. 14 has 20th-century metal casement windows with horizontal glazing bars, while the original 17th-century timber frame is visible on the inside. These buildings are included in the listing primarily for their group value.
