Description

Timber Cottage is a house that likely dates back to the 15th century, with later alterations. It features a timber frame covered in black weatherboarding and has a gabled pantile roof with Suffolk verge detail. A central 19th-century stack is positioned forward of the ridge line. The front of the cottage has 20th-century small pane casements and includes a large flat-roofed garage extension at the north end that wraps around part of the front. Originally, it was a low open hall structure with jowled posts, cambered tie beams, and external wall bracing. The building was raised and extended in the 18th or 19th century, with very low-mounted braces and wide stud spacing.
